Pate’s Reading Week

2026 is the National Year of Reading, and the first week of March was this year’s Pate’s Reading Week. This is an annual event run by the Library team.

Our annual Tutor Group Competition saw students battle to identify 30 books by  their alternative titles – well done to this year’s winners, 7G and 10Y.

Our Daily Quiz  Question returned in both libraries and the Reading Week Fairy paid a visit leaving lots of books around school for students to take home, read and pass on.

Mrs Clark ran some Bookworm Bookmark-Making sessions in the Junior Library. For the first time, students in Years 7- 9 took part in dressing up for World Book Day. A prize was awarded for each year group, although Year 7s were so impressive  in their efforts that two prizes were awarded. Well done to all who took part inn the World Book Day costumes competition. Year group Winners were:

Chichi & Zaynab (7R) – The Final Year

Livi, Trinity & Birdie (7G) – The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe

Leo (8B) – Sherlock Holmes

Arthur (9B) – Emperor Alexius of Byzantine (History book)

We are looking forward to continuing to celebrate reading at Pate’s with more events and competitions in the very near future!
