Wellbeing

Students’ wellbeing is at the forefront of all that we do.

Students have Form Tutors, Heads of Year and our dedicated Key Stage Pastoral Managers on our staff team who can help with any wellbeing issues.

In addition, our Student Support Centre provides a welcome space for students seeking wellbeing support.

Personal Development

As well as our timetabled Personal Development Curriculum, the co-curricular opportunities we offer at Pate’s allow students to discover and showcase their talents. Similarly, our House events further encourage creativity, inclusivity, and mutual support and respect.  The activities run by our Outdoor Adventure team enable students to problem solve, take calculated risks, develop leadership skills, and work in close teams.  We weave these enrichment opportunities into each student’s school life to ensure they benefit from the fully rounded experience that is the Pate’s education.

Students with Wellbeing Needs

For students with wellbeing needs, the following help is also available:

Talk Well Counselling
Students have access to Talk Well (formerly TIC+), a School Counselling service in-school. Students can be referred to this service through our Pastoral team, or can self-refer.

Young Minds Matter
Young Minds Matter is a mental health support service for young people and offers support for those struggling with things like anxiety, low mood or similar concerns such as exam stress or low self esteem. Young Minds Matter is part of the Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Trust. Support can be either face-to-face in school or via a virtual online platform. To meet with someone from Young Minds Matter, our students can ask their Head of Year or Pastoral Manager to make a referral for them. Alternatively, they can make their own referral. For more information, visit Young Minds Matter > CYPS Gloucester Health & Care.

School Nurse Service
We have access to the School Nurse Service and there is a drop-in session once a week. The nurse provides confidential advice and support on health-related issues, including relationships and sexual matters.
