Pupil Premium

Our intent at Pate’s is to foster an inclusive learning and school environment, which promotes progress and high attainment for all students.

We pride ourselves on providing equal access to a rounded education, including a wide range of co-curricular opportunities to support the personal development of our learners.    

Pupil Premium funding is not allocated to individual students, but is given to the school to improve educational outcomes  – and this starts with excellent learning and teaching.  To that end, where appropriate (e.g. when in receipt of Pupil Premium), we can offer a range of the following support to your child:

1. Day-to-Day Support

• A breakfast allowance of £2.00 is available daily until 9.15am, a lunch allowance of £3.50 is available daily until the end of Lunchtime.
• Financial assistance with buying school uniform, PE kit and equipment is offered and provided when necessary.

2. Academic Support

• We ensure Quality First Teaching (a style of teaching that emphasises high quality, inclusive teaching for all students in a class).
• The Academic Support team provides one-to-one intervention work via mentors for students; Pupil Premium students take priority.
• A member of staff has been employed to oversee organisation and revision skills, and Pupil Premium students take priority.    

3. Wellbeing Support

• Enhanced staffing through our school counsellors provides students with a counselling service and mentoring to support self-esteem.
• The school’s independent careers officer interviews all students in Year 10 and Year 11, placing Pupil Premium students as a priority.

4. Extra-Curricular

• Trips, activities and clubs may be offered to Pupil Premium students at a reduced cost, as appropriate.
• Support with music lessons and vocal tuition may be provided when appropriate.
