The members of our dedicated Board of Trustees work behind the scenes to support the Senior Leadership Team and help guide the School’s strategic direction. Between them they bring many years’ invaluable experience across a number of different professions including law, education, HR, IT and accountancy.

Steven SavoryChair of Governors
Steven Savory
Steve has 40 years of Education experience and is now semi-retired.
He spent 20 years as a Headteacher and 10 as the CEO of a Multi Academy Trust (MAT).
In that time Steve was also an Ofsted Inspector, School Improvement Partner, National Leader in Education and an NPQH Tutor, assessor and course writer. He oversaw taking several schools out of special measures and achieved Ofsted Outstanding for his own school.
In 2016, Steve was seconded to the DfE as a Deputy Director and Senior Education Advisor working in South West Primary and Secondary Schools. He has helped Schools, Academies, and MAT's improve systems for Governance, Finance and School Improvement and in 2017 was elected by his peers into his current position on the SW Advisory Board.
In 2024, Steve was awarded an OBE for services to Education in the Kings honour list.

Heidi BinfordVice-Chair of Governors
Heidi Binford
Heidi has over 25 years of experience as a lawyer and certified public accountant.
While now retired, she previously was a partner in a large law firm and also worked for KPMG.
Heidi was elected as a Parent Governor in 2022 and currently chairs the People and Wellbeing Committee. She has a long history as a volunteer, which has included leadership roles in legal and human-rights organisations, as well as active involvement in local schools and village initiatives, including a successful campaign to prevent the closure of a village school.

Victoria MaltbyClerk to Governors
Victoria Maltby
Victoria has 20 years of experience in brand, marketing, communications and project management across multiple sectors. She worked in Big4 professional services in London for 10 years before setting up her own consultancy supporting charities and social entrepreneurs to create positive social change.
Before joining Pate's as Clerk to Governors, Victoria was a Governor at Fairford Primary School.
She is a passionate storyteller and in her spare time she is writing a children's book.

Nicolas AndrewsGovernor
Nicolas Andrews
Nic is a national newspaper journalist who spent 26 years on The Times rising to be Chief Night Editor and then Head of Sport Production. He has also worked for BBC Sport and Mirror Group Newspapers. He is currently Head of Production at Assemble Media Group, where he edits Building magazine.
Nic has a son at Pate's and has been on the Board since 2001.
He is the link Governor with responsibility for Careers and Higher Education
and lives in Amberley, near Stroud.

Laura BrombergGovernor
Laura Bromberg
Laura is an educational leader with over 30 years of experience. Having been a Headteacher of a primary school for 12 years, Laura trained as an Ofsted Inspector, worked as a school Improvement advisor, NPQH tutor and assessor and External Advisor for Headteacher Performance Reviews. She was then Regional Director for the national charity Achievement for All where she line managed 70 specialist advisors, supporting schools to close the attainment gaps for SEN children and those with Educational Disadvantage. Following this she was CEO of a Multi-academy Trust, before becoming an independent educational consultant.
Laura is currently Director of Education for the Little Way Catholic Educational Trust, and a part-time School Improvement Advisor for Wiltshire alongside providing strategic and leadership support to academies and MATs. In addition to being a Governor at Pate's, she is a Trustee at Shire's Academy Trust (MAT) in Redditch.

William CooperGovernor
William Cooper
William has extensive experience as a school Governor. He was formerly Chair of Governors at a primary school for five years and led the recruitment and appointment of the Head Teacher and Deputy Head. He has a particular interest in strategy, communications, media, and digital technology.
Currently the Chief Executive of a global online media company, over the last two decades William has worked as an independent management consultant, advising media and technology organisations around the world on business transformation. He previously headed new media operations at the BBC, having led product development at the PA national news agency and run an educational multimedia production company, after starting his career as a broadcast journalist.
William has a doctorate in communications and postgraduate research experience in teaching and learning technologies.

Dan EvansGovernor
Dan Evans
Dan Evans is an educationalist with extensive experience in the independent education sector and educational travel industry. He has over 15 years of experience as a History of Art and History secondary school teacher. Formerly Head of Department at Wycombe Abbey School, he has now been working for 12 years at Cheltenham College as Head of Sixth Form, Higher Education and Careers, Housemaster (8 years and counting) of a full boarding House of over 60 teenage boys. Dan is also currently Senior Housemaster, overseeing pupil disciplinary and safeguarding as well as boarding operations across 11 boarding houses and contributing to pastoral strategies of the school.
Previously, Dan was a senior lecturer and award-winning tour guide for a Gap Year company called Art History Abroad. He continues to give talks and lectures to art societies and schools in the UK, Europe and Australia.

Gayathiri Gowri ShankarGovernor
Gayathiri Gowri Shankar
Gayathiri Shankar is a qualified Architect and Chartered Environmentalist with over 25 years of experience as a Senior Associate Director in the design and construction industry. She serves as the link Governor for Health & Safety and Sustainability, and has also been leading the Pate's Diwali Celebration for the past eleven years.
Gayathiri brings a wealth of expertise from her professional career as well as her contributions as a community leader, holding executive positions in several cultural and community organisations. Her association with Pate's began in 2013 when her daughter joined Year 7 and continues today with her son in Sixth Form. She is a strong advocate for the school and is deeply committed to advancing its sustainability ambitions in every way possible.

Georgina HumphreysGovernor
Georgina Humphreys
Georgina is an experienced scientist with a commitment to maximising the benefits from research data. After living and working in east Africa, she worked for many years on infectious diseases at the University of Oxford. In 2018 she moved to research funding at Wellcome before working at Health Data Research UK.
Georgina now supports a range of projects through her consultancy work including; the World Health Organization (WHO) Antimicrobial Resistance Department, clinical data sharing platforms, and universities and funders to improve their research data management.
Georgina has been a Board Director of the UK clinical trial registry, is a member of the Health Research Authority ‘Make it Public' transparency campaign group, and a member of the Royal Society for Tropical Medicine and Hygiene Grants and Awards Committee. She is also an Associate Fellow at Green Templeton College, University of Oxford.
Georgina joined the Board of Governors at Pate's as a parent representative in April 2026.

Mangala SekharGovernor
Mangala Sekhar
Mangala Sekhar is the Executive Lead to the Group Chief Digital Officer at a leading professional services Big4 organisation. With over 22 years of experience delivering complex global digital transformation programmes, she brings a unique blend of strategic insight, governance excellence, and people-centred leadership. Her role focuses on driving alignment across the digital leadership team, supporting enterprise-wide transformation initiatives, and preparing communications and strategic reports for senior executives at Group and Global levels.
An MBA graduate, Mangala has served on Governance Boards in UK and India for 15 years. Beyond the workplace, she is an active community organiser, leading annual events for over 300 people.
Mangala is also a proud mum of two secondary-school children and a devoted dog-mama. Known for her calm leadership and warm, engaging style, she thrives on empowering teams and delivering meaningful, lasting impact.

Courteney SheppardGovernor
Courteney Sheppard
With fifteen years of experience in Higher Education admissions at UCAS, Courteney has a keen passion for progression into higher education. Currently the Head of Operations, he oversees the end-to-end running of the admissions service at UCAS involving the full student journey from research through to enrolment. Courteney has extensive experience in risk management, customer service and translating strategy into action.
Courteney joined the Board of Governors at Pate's in September 2024, and is leading the development of a Cyber panel as link Governor for IT.

Dwight TerrettGovernor
Dwight Terrett
Dwight is a Chartered Accountant with 14 years of experience working in practice. Throughout this period, this has involved working with individuals, small businesses all the way through to international companies. For the last 9 years, Dwight has been employed by Crowe U.K. LLP where an interest in working with Social Purpose and Non-Profit entities was fostered and now is a full time Specialist non-profit Senior Manager within the audit team. Dwight is also actively involved with recruitment and supports the promotion of social mobility to ensure opportunities are available to everyone, regardless of their background.
Dwight is currently a Governor at Pate's Grammar School, serving as Chair of the Finance and Facilities Committee, where he brings insight into best practice on internal controls, along with knowledge on accounting treatment application and upcoming accounting rule changes.
